I received a wonderful email suggesting that I give a few pointers on my blog about "how to stage a dramatic play date?" I thought that was really cute by the way...LOL! I think it's sweet to allow all genders to interact before the cootie bug strikes. The first thing you need to do is decide what do you want to stage, what is the age group, and why do you think this dramatic play would be helpful to the children's development? I try as a parent to create as many teachable but fun moments as possible.
Also, take into consideration that parent involvement is very important. Children enjoy engaging with their parents as well as their friends. I receive so much joy by exploring with my daughter. Okay, so back to this run down you asked for. After deciding on the project, set a budget, create a list of everything you need that would make this project successful. For example. Lets say your project is a construction worker staging. The first thing I would do is visit my "Facebook Yard Sale" search for kids items, look for construction toys and props.
I would stage the project outside so the children could utilize a sandbox and other materials that they could move around as if they were on a construction site. After purchasing the items I chose from Facebook Yard Sale, I would visit my local Dollar Tree, and Michael's Craft Store. I wouldn't visit Michael's without my 40% off coupon. I'm the customer that visits three times in one day to get multiple savings...LOL! I'm being honest.
If you need fabric, Walmart has affordable fabric that looks, and works great with projects. Now, that you have purchased what you need to construct and carry out your idea. You need to stage everything, for example an area where the children can shovel, carry, and move their dump trucks. I would create special signage using wwwpicmonkey.com to direct the construction workers.
You can always visit www.pinterest.com to get inspired. I have a lot of ideas there as well. Visit my page by clicking the "pinterest" icon at the bottom of my website. I hope this post has inspired you to create a dramatic play for your little ones soon.
